Longtown Sound 1077 Sunday Edition

Longtown Sound 1077

Revelation 14:14-20 (KJV)
14. And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
15. And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
16. And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.
17. And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.
18. And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
19. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
20. And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

 Longtown Sound 1070

Philippians 4:8-13
8. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
10. But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.
11. Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

I received an email from Doc Roberts as follows -

Unc! Here’s an idea: Encourage your listeners to create/post a Sunday Prayer using the titles of your playlist. Make it a weekly contest. The winner gets to “virtually” sit at the head of the “virtual” dinner table next Sunday.

Here’s my offering: (from a previous Sunday’s playlist)

“One Day Everything failed me. I had Just One Hope that, Lord, It Was You who would give me a Second Chance. Now, It Is Well With My Soul.”

Just a thought….

Thanks, Doc! Okay, friends. Create your prayer from the playlist above and post in the comments. I’ll judge ‘em fair and square and determine a winner, though you all are already!

Longtown Sound 1004 Sunday Edition - Jilleen, Willie Nelson, The Martins, New Vision Quartet, The Heartmen Quartet, Tommy Coomes Band, George Younce, Chuck Wagon Gang

Longtown Sound 1004

Paul and Barnabas sang when they were jailed in prison in the book of Acts. Sometimes to hear the words of God sung are the healing balm that diverts you away from deep seated sadness to that of a communal spiritual holy God sanctioned power that almost can not be defined in words. This is done for the comfort factor so that we may be patient in this present evil that is growing daily, and yet the Victor is scheduled to come despite it all.

Treasure your bible, read it.

Jilleen - Fairest Lord Jesus
Willie Nelson - Precious Memories
The Martins - Be Thou My Vision
New Vision Quartet - Look for Me
The Heartmen Quartet - Are You Ready
Tommy Coomes Band - Great Is Thy Faithfulness
George Younce -  Child Of The King
Chuck Wagon Gang -  Precious Name

Longtown Sound 616 The Sunday Edition Featuring- New Vision Quartet, The Centurions, Julie Renee, The Couriers, The Ishmaels, The Wallace Family, Sentforth, Markley Violin

Longtown Sound 616

Psalm 10
1. Why, O Lord, do you stand afar off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
2. In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor; let them be caught in the schemes that they have devised.
3. For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses and renounces the Lord.
4. In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are, “There is no God.”
5. His ways prosper at all times; your judgments are on high, out of his sight; as for all his foes, he puffs at them.
6. He says in his heart, “I shall not be moved; throughout all generations I shall not meet adversity.”
7. His mouth is filled with cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue are mischief and iniquity.
8. He sits in ambush in the villages; in hiding places he murders the innocent. His eyes stealthily watch for the helpless;
9. he lurks in ambush like a lion in his thicket; he lurks that he may seize the poor; he seizes the poor when he draws him into his net.
10. The helpless are crushed, sink down, and fall by his might.
11. He says in his heart, “God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it.”

Longtown Sound 526 The Sunday Edition Featuring- Jim Brooks, Mahalia Jackson, The Hoppers, Johnny Cook, Anthony Burger, The Heartmen Quartet, Dick Damron

Longtown Sound 526

Psalms 115

1: Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.
2: Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?
3: But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.
4: Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.
5: They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:
6: They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:
7: They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.
8: They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.
9: O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.
10: O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.
11: Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.
12: The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.
13: He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.
14: The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children.
15: Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth.
16: The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’s: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.
17: The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.
18: But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD

One of Longtown Sound’s contributors to many shows over the past three years was my friend, Jim Brooks.  Jim went to be with the Lord this past week. I recall many nights we conversed on the long distance and I got to know Jim as well as anyone can through our love of music, talks, writing emails and comments in various web stes. I don’t know how long his site will remain active but visit here and download any favorites you wish. Jim had a gift and I know he’s using it freely and even more now. Sing praises, brother! See you “By and By”.
