Longtown Sound 1063 Pancake Wednesday Pre-Christmas Flour Power Hour

Uncleshag’s Longtown Sound has been bringing great indie artists with ear picked tuneage to the world on the internet at WWW.WLSO.FM since 2005.  That year, we found Jim Armstrong and Andrea Poulis on Sonic Deli Records with his CD “Brown Bag Lunch” We made a big to-do about that by spinning every cut from each of those groundbreaking artists found in that jewel of a showcase. Those were heady days back when MySpace was a real destination! Whee!!

Then in 2007 everything turned downright dirty when Jim Armstrong’s labor delivered a healthy full grown CD and he promptly and proudly named it, “Mudtown”  Cuts were flying everywhere. Terrestrial DJ’s and home bound internet podcasters ate it up, spit it out to the masses and at last call, all were enthralled. Jim has steadily given of his time and talent, raising awareness for pertinent causes, locally and globally all this time. If you get the opportunity to see him live, do so! Support this local artist and you help many!

Here we are at the end of 2010 and Jim Armstrong is kicking high with the drop of a new CD - “Junction Rd.” and with a heart pumping strength in his vocals rivaling The Boss and Neil Young and at times a mix of Mel Torme and Bill Murray for sheer will to be.

Pancake Wednesday. Did you happen to see last Wednesday’s New York Times, internet version? It carried video of some old guy giving lessons on the art of flapjackerie. Only, he called it “making pancakes”. He did a great job, but it’s sad. When the world is going to hell in a peach basket, the NYT is stealing my idea for their internet front page.
Okay, it’s not a new idea but sheesh! Oh, well, if that’s my greatest gripe today, big deal! Eat more! You’re gonna need it! Enjoy the crisp bacon and the tunage!
