RockRoll360 #074 - Goodbye to WBCN (Part. 18)

Goodbye To WBCN (Pt. 18)

Jim Parry @ WBCN Studios

Continuing with The Goodbye to WBCN final 4 days of Broadcast.
Don’t forget segments with this symbol  ( # ) are bonus additions
and is not from the original 4 day broadcast.

One night in April of 1979,  Governor Edward King of Massachusetts launch the bill on raising the drinking age from 18 back up to 20. This  became a special night in Massachusetts and last call for thousands of  working youth & college students until they reach the age of 21 to drink again (Legally).  This is a segment of a broadcast from WBCN that night with Jim Parry at the mic, I had in my personal collection on cassette.  The music for the show which starts  at the 6:50 mark with the Kingston Trio through Queen is the music broadcast that night, but I re-recorded the tracks from my personal collection due to capturing a better sound from analog to digital sound quality. Also a special anouncement from Charlie Kendell at WBCN back in 1979.

Hope you enjoy this special edition of Goodbye To WBCN .

RockRoll360 # 035 - When The Levee Breaks - Pt. 1

When The Levee Breaks - Pt. 1

If it keeps on rainin’, levee’s goin’ to break,
If it keeps on rainin’, levee’s goin’ to break,
When The Levee Breaks I’ll have no place to stay.

When it came to hurricane provisions I was always one of those people
who chuckled at the sight of watching shoppers fill their carts with
water and canned goods.  It would never happen here right?

Those people were just paranoid, buying up all the water and making
the lines at the gas stations too long at every mention of a hurricane.

Then along comes Katrina.

Here is my tribute and remembrance of these terrible days in
New Orleans, La., in August & September of 2005.

Music include —->

LIKE A HURRICANE ( Unplugged )- NEIL YOUNG
STORMY MONDAY - LEE MICHAELS
WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS - LED ZEPPELIN
HERE COMES THE FLOOD - PETER GABRIEL
LOUISIANA 1927 - RANDY NEWMAN
WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS - GREEN DAY
SUICIDAL DREAM ( Acoustic ) - SILVERCHAIR
TROUBLE - RAY LAMONTAGNE
BAREFOOT CHILDREN - JIMMY BUFFET

Sound Bites include —->

In The News Week Of August 28th 2005 - Sound Bite -Computer
Hurricane Katrina To Hit Gulf States - Sound Bite from Eleanor Hall
Stormy Night - Song Sound Bite from Leroy Carr
Hurricane Katrina Hit The Gulf States - Sound Bite from Eleanor Hall
KKND (New Orleans-New Rock-The End)
- Radio I.D. ( Has Been Edited Short)

Correction on Podcast …I mention Hurricane Bob
/ The correct name is Hurricane Bill.

RockRoll360 #013 - Sittin In Limbo - Pt. 1

 Sittin In Limbo Pt.1

Welcome Podsters! Today I will change modes again and move away
from the RockRoll360 format and do something just a little bit different.

This is a compilation of deep tracks acoustic music.
This is also a type of podcast that is great to end a backyard
barbeque later in the evening.

‘Duncan” and “Merrimac County” are two favorites of mind that never
seem to lose their hold on me for the last 30 and more years.
Also the beautiful “Perfect Love” which
features James Taylor singing in the background.

Relax and enjoy now “Sittin’ in Limbo” (Part 1)

JUNK -  PAUL McCARTNEY
BABY CAN I HOLD YOU -  TRACY CHAPMAN
GRAPEFRUIT / JUICY FRUIT -  JIMMY BUFFET
DUNCAN - PAUL SIMON
PERFECT LOVE -  MARC COHN   ( Featuring James Taylor )
HEY MISTER, THAT’S ME UP ON THE JUKEBOX - JAMES TAYLOR
HOW CAN I TELL YOU -  CAT STEVENS
BREAKIN’ ME -  JONNY LANG
ASLEEP IN THE DESERT -  ZZ TOP
MERRIMAC COUNTY -  TOM RUSH

Don’t look for any sound bites on this episode.  Sorry!

They will return next week in Episode #015

This compilation was made during the year of 2004.
