ROCKOLLECTIONS: HOME FOR THANKSGIVING 2010 PT.3

Oh baby, Thanksgiving is getting real close now!
We have been listening to songs about going Home, Home For Thanksgiving.
But what if the Home is YOURS?
So I’ll start off with songs for people who have guests coming to their Home.
Got a true story in here too, a dumb drunken story regarding inviting semi-strangers to my house from a Manhattan bar that does actually make for a fun memory.
Damn, I didn’t think they would really come, and  I couldn’t even introduce most of the guests to my girl Angel because I couldn’t remember their names, lol!
After that, a look at where Home always is.
I’ll close this episode out with the great old group, Buffalo Springfield.
I don’t like to toot my own horn, but I particularly think you will enjoy the inspired opening songs- I got lucky and made some GREAT selections, lol!
To me, this has an authentic feeling of early Thanksgiving Day to it.
As will the next chapter, I am even getting hungry thinking about it.

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE CYCLE OF LIFE PT.2

 mp_cycle2.jpg

This is the episode where the Cycle Of Life actually begins,
After identifying some songs I owe you, I was thinking that one good reason for finally doing this series is because We May Never Pass This Way Again, and I should do it while I can.
In order to have Life you have to be born.
As promised, Rockollections Will Give Birth.
Even beginning with some pre-natal songs.
Then, like everyone who reads this or listens to the show, we will come into the world.
Included in this chapter is one of my favorite old Buffalo Springfield songs, written by then member Neil Young.
It’s about a newborn child, but uniquely sung from the standpoint of the child.
Just wonderful!
As always, I hope you enjoy this attempt at bringing you our music in a different way.
And when we resume next week, we will take our first baby steps and continue to grow and travel forward along that Cycle Of Life.
A Toast To Life…well, consider the alternative!

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE CSN DEBUT PT.1

CSN Debut Pt 1

I broadcast this show this past August- a hot, sticky August day in New York City, after having taken the bus and train to get to the radio station.
The hard candy in my pocket was melting!
It seemed like the kind of day to just play an album all the way through.
Nothing difficult, just take a classic album from 1969, let it spin and talk a little about it.
So that’s what I did with the debut album by Crosby, Stills & Nash.
The LP blew everyone away upon its release and they became superstars.
The Players in our drama:
David Crosby, from the great and still-thriving Byrds;
Stephen Stills, from the great and dissolved Buffalo Springfield;
Graham Nash, feeling stifled with the great and to continue being great Hollies.
And to keep the feeling of playing an album, I have Side One in this chapter.
I’ll flip the album over for the forthcoming Part Two.
