One of Longtown Sound’s contributors to many shows over the past three years was my friend, Jim Brooks.  Jim went to be with the Lord this past week. I recall many nights we conversed on the long distance and I got to know Jim as well as anyone can through our love of music, talks, writing emails and comments in various web stes. I don’t know how long his site will remain active but visit here and download any favorites you wish. Jim had a gift and I know he’s using it freely and even more now. Sing praises, brother! MONROE, La., - Services for James Lamar Brooks, 53, were held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. He was born on November 30, 1955, in Biloxi, MS, and died on May 18, 2009, in Monroe, LA.

Psalm 62
1 Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.
2 Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
3 How long will you assault me? Would all of you throw me down— this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
4 Surely they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse.
5 Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.
6 Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
7 My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
8 Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
9 Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath.
10 Do not trust in extortion or put vain hope in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.
11 One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: “Power belongs to you, God,
12 and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”; and, “You reward everyone according to what they have done.”

Psalm 79:1-9
1. O God, the nations have come into your inheritance; they have defiled your holy temple; they have laid Jerusalem in ruins.
2. They have given the bodies of your servants to the birds of the air for food, the flesh of your faithful to the wild animals of the earth.
3. They have poured out their blood like water all around Jerusalem, and there was no one to bury them.
4. We have become a taunt to our neighbors, mocked and derided by those around us.
5. How long, O LORD? Will you be angry forever? Will your jealous wrath burn like fire?
6. Pour out your anger on the nations that do not know you, and on the kingdoms that do not call on your name.
7. For they have devoured Jacob and laid waste his habitation.
8. Do not remember against us the iniquities of our ancestors; let your compassion come speedily to meet us, for we are brought very low.
9. Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; deliver us, and forgive our sins, for your name’s sake.
