ROCKOLLECTIONS: NEW YORK CITY SONGS PT.2

As we continue with our New York Songs,
a theme within a theme.
There is no more famous street in the world than Broadway- it is non-negotiable! Beginning with a short song by Harry Nilsson, we will March Down Broadway. Marching along with us for this entire chapter will be the likes of Wilson Pickett, Billy Joel, the Goo Goo Dolls, Bee Gees, Genesis, naturally the Drifters, and even James Cagney. Oh, and at the end of our march, we will be turning on 42nd Street. Wear something light, comfortable shoes, and keep in step. Let’s look sharp out there!

Another great show Mike. I actually recognized quite a few of these tunes. I really liked the Wilson Pickett, Billy Joel (I had not heard this one) and Goo Goo Dolls songs. Also, you played my favorite Bee Gees song, Nights On Broadway, and I had totally forgotten about it.
I also appreciate the inclusion of The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. I’ve never heard it but always wanted to.
And finally, great, great song by The Drifters (On Broadway). I had forgotten about all of these great New York songs. Thanks for playing them.
Dear RJ,
Yeah I thought that long Broadway set was a winner!
Congratulations, but I expected you to recognize a lot of those tunes, lol!
Surprised you weren’t familiar with the Billy Joel though.
See, now that is MY FAVORITE thing- not only did I play a song you had forgotten about, but it was your favorite Bee Gees song!
That’s an “OH WOW!” moment!
About time you heard The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, and I’m glad I was the guy who provided the opportunity.
That Drifters song is a classic- I wouldn’t have done the set without it.
And I waited for just the right moment to sneak it in there, lol!
There were some great Broadway and New York songs in there.
There will be a similar set, but a different location, in this year’s show.
Thank YOU for the nice, smart comments,
Mike
