   Mike,

   I have to be truthful. I’m not a fan of Mardi Gras. No particular reason. I’ve never had any interest in going. I don’t really like the musical style that, for the most part, this show features. It’s just one of those personal preferences, although I’m aware that Fats Domino certainly contributed to the sound and influenced many rock artists that I do love. It’s just not for me.

   However, I did manage to find a worthy Golden Pell recipient. That would be the one and only Paul Simon. Take Me To The Mardi Gras was a cool little song. And truth be told, I kinda liked the song before it by The Dixie Cups.

   Don’t get me wrong. I still like to listen. Always do. This musical style is just not for me.

   RJ,
   Well, looks like you won’t like Part Two either, lol!
   Truly!
   The Mardi Gras and me would have been a great mix- good food, wild women showing their boobs for cheap jewelry, but unfortunately for me, endless amounts of booze flowing, which I no longer drink.
   The Dixie Cups number was my favorite of the half hour- I’ve always loved that song.
   Lucky for the Golden Pell, Paul Simon’s Take Me To The Mardi Gras was literally a last moment thought.
   I was sitting there playing those Mardi Gras songs, and it suddenly occurred to me to run around and pull out Simon’s song.
   A very similar thing happened to close out Part Two and the show, the last song was a last second addition, and quite clever I might add, lol!
   You’ll decide tomorrow.
   The freedom I have allows me to do that- I gather a bunch of songs regarding a topic, and just trust that my inner compass will lay them out there in an intelligent fashion.
   There is no one I can’t play, and even better, no one I HAVE to play!
   I love your honesty and opinions, it’s always fun reading them.
   But being honest myself, there has only ever been ONE listener I aimed to please.
   And that would be ME.
   If I think a show is good, then that’s what it is, lol!
   I love the old Rock & Roll, and think it is sadly overlooked- so this will be a history lesson or maybe just a self-indulgence.
   Either way, I go out there alone, and left alone- no one looking over my shoulder, no demographics to please. Just me always playing the best damn music I can think of!
   If people like it, of course I am pleased.
   But that’s just incidental, of minor consequence…if they don’t, it doesn’t really matter to me.
   That’s why I enjoy reading your opinion.
   It allows me to step back and hear an impartial observer, good or bad, and I like that…distancing myself a little.
   Nothing will ever change in my presentation however, lol!
