ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE CYCLE OF LIFE PT.1

mp_cycle1.jpg

Here’s another idea for a Theme Series that I have had for a long time that would bump into the annual Tribute/Memorials.
The Cycle Of Life!
And I would always be reminded by those people passing away, thereby completing the Cycle.
Well, no more excuses.
It’s a new decade, and after about 10 years of doing them, I am putting those Tributes to rest, at least for a while.
As you will hear me say, it is coincidental that this comes during my birth month, March. Thinking more about it, maybe…maybe not.
At any rate, in this first chapter I will be taking a musical look at just some of what the singers and the songwriters think Life is- including our major opening question.
But to give you a better understanding of our real beginning and how this journey is going to go, in the next chapter Rockollections Will Give Birth!
Yes, Life will begin and I will take it from there.
At this point I have no idea how long this Theme Series will take.
It’s free-form radio, and I’ll know when I get to the end.
But this is how it begins…

Mike

I’m spending the evening with the TV turned off and WLSO.FM turned on….started with this podcast.

    Rock On!

    Dear Tish,
I hope you enjoyed and got deep into that Cycle Of Life I’ve been doing.
Proud you picked me to start with.
By the time you read this, we will have reached Old Age.
    And after that…
    Who needs TV, lol?
Thanks for letting me know, and most certainly for listening,
    Mike

I’m gonna tackle this series starting today. I see there are 8 parts, and part 1 is “What is life?”. Part 2, according to part 1, will be about giving birth. I presume part 8 will be about death. So that leaves 5 parts that I’m very interested to see where you take it.

For part 1, a perfect starting song that, although I’ve heard it several times, I can never seem to remember that it’s George Harrison. And I’ve always loved Dire Straits “Walk Of Life”, and what a great video to go with this song.

Of the songs I’m not familiar with, I really like Life Is A Carnival, Life Is A Ministroni (which I have no idea how to spell), and Sha Boom was wonderful. I love the contrast between the higher pitched voices and the bass voice, that’s awesome.

And I was guessing Jethro Tull on the final song, but only because of the flute.

    Great start.

By the way, are my comments too long?

    Dear RJ,
I thought that was the perfect starting song, couldn’t think of one better.
I think The Walk Of Life is my favorite Dire Straits song.
Life Is A Minestrone is the correct spelling- as all Italians know, lol!
It’s always fun to introduce songs to people who haven’t heard them.
Nice grab on Jethro Tull- didn’t think anyone would predict that one- very impressive.
    Thanks for the kind words.
And in answer to your question, Life’s A Long Song, your comments are definitely NOT, lol!
    Mike
